Why Artificial Plants Are Better?

Plants are having a great time right now. It seems like every time I open my Instagram feed, I see tons of gorgeous pictures of plants. The same goes for my favorite local coffee shops and indoor food markets, where floor plans hang from the ceiling or are placed in planters of varying sizes. All I can say is that I am envious.

Plants are a great way to add a pop of color to an indoor or outdoor space and can easily be incorporated into any home décor. Artificial plants offer a variety of benefits. First, you can't kill a fake plant (unless you throw it away). Fake plants are long-lasting, so you don’t have to replace them as often. You can easily move them from one room in your home to another without having to worry about spilled dirt or water leaks.

Reasons why indoor fake plants are better than bringing real ones home.

Fake plants are low maintenance

One of my biggest failures with real plants is remembering to water them every day. It sounds like a simple and basic task, but sometimes life gets in the way and watering my plants falls to the bottom of my to-do list. I'm not sure how much water I need to give them to grow properly, which doesn't help much either.

After constantly wasting money buying and killing real plants, I decided to switch to artificial ones. These little plants look great in my dining room kitchen, bathroom windowsill, and living room bookshelf. Since then, I’ve added a 65-inch-tall fiddleleaf tree in the office, a hanging succulent wall in the kitchen, and a small jade tree in the guest bathroom.

I love how artificial plants freshen up my living space without having to worry about whether they're getting enough (or too much) sun or water. I also don’t have to think about fertilizing, spraying chemicals, killing insects, or checking the soil. Very simple.

That said, artificial plants still require constant care. I dust my fake plants every two weeks. This helps remove any dust or pets that (inevitably) settle on the waxy leaves and petals. It’s very low maintenance and that’s the balance I want to achieve at this stage in my life.

Fake plants are not poisonous

Living with pets or small children? Fake plants will become your new best friends. Indoor green plants like aloe vera, peace lily plants, and yes, even my beloved fiddle leaf can be toxic to cats, dogs, and small children. While not all indoor plants are harmful to furry friends and small children, I err on the side of caution when bringing outdoor plants indoors.

Premium fake plants look just as good

The term "plastic plant" doesn't sound sexy at all, but imitation plants look very close to the real thing. I used to be that person who turned my nose up at fake plants because they had a reputation for being low quality and tacky. And, if I'm being completely honest, some artificial plants don't look that good.

In my experience, checking the quality before buying is the key to getting gorgeous fake plants that look authentic. Texture, style and appearance are all important factors. The goal was to fill my house with artificial plants that didn't look fake.
