Question:How effective is it at self-cleaning?

Answer:I love how easy it is to clean - takes less than 10 minutes! Much easier and quicker than my previous Petsafe/Drinkwell plastic water fountain which had nooks and crannies that required different sized soft brushes to get thoroughly clean. I had to give the plastic water fountain away because my cat had feline acne on his chin, so the vet told us to switch to a stainless steel one. I didn't want a ceramic one because I was afraid I would break it. This fountain is so light that I take it to the sink every weekend to clean it even with water in it. It took about a week for the cats to get used to drinking from it, and they prefer to drink from the bubbling part at the top. Another selling point for this fountain is that if I lose power before my cat sitter arrives, the water is still accessible. (Some fountains keep the water in a "tank" underneath, which doesn't seem like a good option.) This fountain is so quiet! There's barely any sound, which I love. Hope this helps!
